Adeleke swears to be the governor of Osun.

In keeping with promises to the state’s citizens, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was yesterday sworn in as executive governor of Osun State.

Adeleke said that his inauguration marked the start of a new era and pledged to right the wrongs of previous administrations in the state during his inaugural speech, in which he reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare, peace, and security of the state.

All appointments made by Oyetola between July 17 and November 26, 2022, have been reversed, according to Adeleke.

He gave the order to freeze all state financial accounts.

Along with this, the governor changed the name of the state from “State of Osun” to “Osun State,” claiming that the former was incompatible with Nigeria’s Constitution.

PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, among others, were among the dignitaries present.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Adeleke received congratulations from Zone D of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

“We congratulate the newly-inaugurated governor of Osun State on behalf of the entire students of NANS in South-West, particularly Osun students, within and in Diaspora,” the student body said in a statement signed by Zone D Coordinator Emmanuel Adegboye, his deputy John Alao, and Public Relations Officer Opeoluwa Awoyinfa.
