Dont Be Afraid Of Violence, Go Out And Vote, Buhari Tells Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has advised Nigerians not to be afraid of violence as they perform the civic responsibility tomorrow.

Nigerians will elect their leaders in the rescheduled general election beginning on Saturday.

Mr Buhari is running for a second term in office on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

His major challenger, Atiku Abubakar, is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The president had earlier in the week ordered security agencies to shoot-at-sight anyone found snatching ballot box.

The statement has been condemned by critics of the administration who opined that the president was installing fear on the minds of the people.

Urging the people not to be afraid, the president said security measures has been taken to ensure a free, fair and credible elections.

“Do not be afraid of rumours of violence and unrest,” Buhari told Nigerians in his National Broadcast Friday morning monitored by POLITICS TIMES.

“Our security agencies have worked diligently to ensure that adequate security measures are in place.

“As your President, I hereby ask all Nigerians with voting cards to participate in defining the future of our nation by exercising your democratic rights tomorrow. I urge you to go out and vote,” the president said.

Meanwhile, his party has said the Nigerian leader will congratulate whoever emerges winner if he is defeated at the poll.
