Diabetes Mellitus also known as Insulin deficiency is a metabolic disease due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency. This is also a common  clinical condition.        There are 2 major types of Diabetes mellitus

  • Type 1 Diabetes mellitus and

  •  Non obese.

    However 95% of the patients belong to this type. It should be noted, the disease is due to the decreased biological response to insulin otherwise known as Insulin resistance. So there is a relative insulin deficiency. In addition,This type is commonly seen In individuals above 40 years.These patients are less prone to develop ketosis.
However,
Insulin resistance develops as a consequence of excess accumulation of fat in liver and sketetal muscle.
