On election day, Ohanaeze implores Ndigbo to defy the injunction to stay at home.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, has once again encouraged residents of the South East to defy a call to stay at home during the next elections by an anti-Igbo party.

The organization issued the request in a statement that was approved by its National Executive Committee during an emergency meeting held over the weekend in Enugu and signed by Alex Ogbonnia, the party’s national publicity secretary.

Chief Okey Emuchay, the organization’s secretary general, served as the meeting’s chair. Ogbonnia said that the NEC discussed many matters of national importance in depth and came to some significant decisions.

The order Simon Ekpa, who is headquartered in Finland, gave the Igbo to stay at home and go into complete lockdown, in his opinion, was the most concerning of them all.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses amazement and skepticism that a real Igbo would unjustly go on a dishonest deceptive journey intended to denounce, disenfranchise, and decimate his people,” he stated.

The unethical sit-at-home order and complete lockdown imposed by Ekpa coincide with the general election, which is the most upsetting. The South East of Nigeria will now produce a president for Nigeria, according to Ohanaeze, who stands strongly on the principles of natural justice and equality.

“Right-thinking Nigerians and the international world have accepted the attributes of Peter Obi as the most qualified, capable, visionary, exciting and dynamic presidential candidate for the next general election,” he said.

Because of this, he said, “it is amazing that at the extremely rare unanimity and confluence of history, equality, public awareness, and expertise in Obi, an impetuous teenager would participate in an unreflective drum-beat that drags his people to a ghastly dance.”
