Al-Nassr Manager Reacts: Ronaldo Should Have Scored
|The manager of Al-Nassr, Rudi Garcia, has cited Cristiano Ronaldo’s miss from a clear distance on Thursday as the crucial moment in their Super Cup loss to Al-Ittihad.
In the second game, Ronaldo was held scoreless as his team fell 3-1 to goals from Romarinho, Hamdallah, and Al-Shaqeeti.
The 37-year-old almost scored by diving high into the air and deflecting a header toward goal, but Grohe in goal stopped him.
After 28 seconds, Al-Ittihad promptly made it 2-0.
Cristiano’s missed chance in the first half was one among the factors that altered the outcome of the game.
“I commend Al-Ittihad. We performed well in the second half after they played a far better first half than we did, but we were unable to change the outcome.
Although we lament losing the Super Cup, we are still in first place in the league, so that is true.
said Garcia.
