NYSC and CBN will collaborate on the E-Naira for corps members
|The National Youth Service Corps has been asked to collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria on the usage of online money for Corps members.
Additionally, it was said that the electronic platform would provide risk-free payment for users.
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Deputy Director for Information Technology, Mr. Habib Yusuf, made this statement on Monday while leading some employees on a polite visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The e-naira, the first of its type in Africa, includes digital wallets that will enable offline purchases of products and services as well as the onboarding of many users, the speaker said.
He continued by saying that the electronic platform will easily provide its consumers with access to several technologies.
The National Youth Service Corps’ acting director general, Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, praised the CBN for the innovation in her answer.
She said that the Scheme is open to partnerships that would make the Corps Members’ service year special.
Uba did, however, add that NYSC Management will take the CBN’s proposal into consideration.
