In Imo State, You Have No Chance, the APC Tells the PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has no chance of defeating the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State or in Nigeria in the general elections of 2023, according to the Imo State chapter of the APC on Monday.

A political party that is blatantly unable to coordinate and unify its members in Imo specifically and Nigeria generally “has no chance to rule our people here in the State and Nigeria at large come 2023,” according to the governing APC.

This was revealed by the APC in a statement sent to DAILY POST in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, and signed by Cajetan Duke, the party’s state publicity secretary.

The statement says,

The opposition PDP’s reintroduction of political intolerance, brigandage, and do-or-die politics into our democratic process is even more alarming and should raise serious concerns for all well-meaning Imolites. This development has the potential to jeopardize the security, peace, and stability of our beloved state.

However, it is regrettable to note that the Imo PDP and its leadership as it is currently organized have lost sight of the value of public order, sanity, and human life as a result of their excessive and despicable quest for power. As a result, political thuggery has become a common method for obtaining political and public office.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Imo State, led by Hon. MacDonald Kelechi Ebere, has observed with dismay attempts by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to institutionalize political violence, thuggery, and brigandage in the State ahead of the upcoming general election. As a result, the APC feels compelled to inform Imo citizens and also warn the misguided PDP about the futility of the step it is taking and

In fact, the Imo PDP needed to be warned after the unpleasant and undemocratic interruption of the party’s planned presidential campaign council inauguration at its state secretariat on Okigwe Road in Owerri by gunmen who were purportedly hired by well-known but evidently irate party officials.

While the identity of the hoodlums’ sponsors is not yet known, the Ihedioha-led section of the party and those who support the Ikeduru-born National Secretary of the party have both made many accusations and denials of those accusations.

“It was heard that PDP leaders, who were engaged in a desperate struggle with one another, sent armed thugs into the State Presidential Campaign Council’s inaugural ceremony, forcing party members to flee for their lives while suffering varying degrees of injury.
